5.6. Updates#

New versions of TII Spectrometry Touch are installed without any need to connect a keyboard, mouse, or remote shell to the device: copy the new package to the Updates folder of the shared folder, then start the update from the device itself.

To update:

  1. Copy the new .deb file into the Updates folder of the Spectra share.

  2. On the device, leave the full-screen application (Escape), open the application menu and choose Utility > Install TII Spectrometry Update.

  3. A terminal window shows the update package it found and asks for confirmation. Confirming closes TII Spectrometry Touch, installs the package, and starts it again.

Note

If several packages are in the Updates folder, the newest one is installed; older files are left in place and can be removed at any time to keep the folder tidy.

For convenience, an icon for this menu entry can be placed on the device’s desktop from the application menu as well.
